Updated Seafood Watch Pocket Guides

For January 2012 our changes include new recommendations for California yellowtail and octopus from the Philippines. Good news: Florida pompano, as well as snapper and grouper from Hawaii, have moved from "Avoid" to our "Good Alternatives" list.

Shark Fin Bill Passes!

We did it! California Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 376 on October 7—the bill to ban the trade in shark fins. A ban on fins here will have a significant impact on the global trade in shark fins—and protect shark populations around the world. Thank you for your calls, letters and support. Super Green Seafood List: Healthy for You, and the Ocean

How can you eat more seafood for your health and protect ocean ecosystems? We’ve got the answer. Working with the Environmental Defense Fund and scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health, we’ve created a 'Super Green' list of wild and farmed seafood that’s good for people and the oceans.
