Millions of sharks die each year so that their fins can be used in shark fin soup. Support the Shark Conservation Act of 2009 and send a letter to your Senators today!
Learn More About Ocean Issues
Our newest special exhibition, Hot Pink Flamingos: Stories of Hope in a Changing Sea, tells the story of climate change through the eyes of tropical wading birds, green sea turtles, playful Magellanic penguins and other ocean animals. You'll also hear stories of hope involving people and communities that are fighting climate change and making a difference.
Around the world, up to one million seabirds die each year from eating plastic or becoming entangled in plastics and other marine debris. The Laysan albatross is particularly vulnerable. Learn how plastic is affecting albatrosses and how “Makana,” a beautiful Laysan albatross, is helping us teach Aquarium visitors about this issue.
